Taking the Plunge: Target Pricing and Quality Measures in the CJR Bundles
The Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CJR) model aims to support better and more efficient care for beneficiaries undergoing the most common inpatient surgeries for Medicare beneficiaries. This model bundles payment and quality measurement for an episode of care associated with total knee (DRG 469) and total hip (DRG 470) rolled out in 67 different regions across the U.S. in April, 2016, and a new bundle being implemented; the Surgical Hip/Femur Fracture Treatment or (SHFFT) in July of 2017. This model encourages hospitals, physicians, and post-acute care providers (i.e. physical and occupational therapists) to collaborate to improve the quality and coordination of care from the initial hospitalization through 90 days post discharge from the hospital. Private practice physical therapists have a role to play in the model as a ‘collaborator’ with the anchor hospital. This webinar will discuss the CJR model, services included and excluded in the CJR model, quality measures, and target pricing. Financial risk arrangements, and impact of composite quality score in determination of bonus payment or repayment will be presented through case examples.
